Zhang Jianqiang, a copper foil slitter at Gansu Hailiang New Energy Materials Company, is one such example.
With a production output of 680 tons, he set a cutting record since the production launch of Gansu Hailiang New Energy Materials. Even in the industry at large, this is an achievement to be proud of. Zhang remarked, “I never expected to set a record. I just do my job every day as best as I can.”
Since he joined Hailiang, he has never stopped working tirelessly.
Diligent and capable, achieving excellence one step at a time
With the breakthrough in copper foil cutting production records, Zhang Jianqiang has become increasingly well-known. When asked about how he managed to create such a miracle, a shy smile always graces his face.
When Zhang Jianqiang first joined Hailiang New Energy Materials, he approached his role as a slitter with the mindset of “observe more, listen more, learn more, and ask more”. He learned through practical experience and continuously improved his skills through work. Despite being on the job for just a few short months, he never once halted his forward momentum, from starting from scratch to being able to independently complete cutting tasks, and even to promptly identifying equipment malfunctions and effectively troubleshooting.
As a person unafraid to step out of their comfort zone, Zhang is not content with just being familiar with the basic job tasks. He spends more time in learning about copper foil inspection.
“Even though every machine in the workshop is equipped with CCD surface defect detectors, as the primary person responsible for production, I still need to learn more about the theory and practical experience, which includes identifying and addressing issues like copper foil warping, wave edges, and uneven tension. Only then will I be truly adept at my work.” Zhang Jianqiang remarked.
To continue running is the attitude that a Hailiang youth should have
“Maintaining a constant state of progress with the attitude of running forward” is a distinctive characteristic of every Hailiang individual.
Today, Zhang Jianqiang has become a cornerstone in the workshop. Looking ahead, he said, “I will learn more about copper foil production knowledge, so that I can better use theory to solve practical problems and guide actual production.”
The path of running forward is not always smooth, nor is it always adorned with flowers. It is destined to have stumbling blocks and obstacles. Although Zhang has become familiar with his daily tasks, occasionally he still encounters challenges that he cannot solve on his own.
Forging a path where there seems to be none, and carving out new routes on less traveled roads. For Mr. Zhang, this is a true reflection of his growth journey at Hailiang New Energy Materials. Looking ahead, he sees even greater potential for advancement.
There is no shortcuts to get success; it requires hard work, skillful work, and above all, real and practical effort. In Zhang's view, slitting work is a highly practical job that demands a deep understanding of the underlying principles. It also requires dedicated hands-on practice, making strategic efforts, and seeking breakthroughs. He believes in investing more time and effort in learning and personal growth.

Even though Zhang Jianqiang has set a new record for cutting production at Hailiang New Energy Materials, he does not believe his abilities have reached the pinnacle of the industry. His primary task remains to excel in his assigned role. With a firm grip on his goals and a determination to seize the day, Zhang believes that he can continuously surpass himself and set new records by anchoring his targets, maintaining a swift and steady pace, and taking solid steps forward.
